beachfront bedroom

2024, Florida — When these clients reached out from Florida, they told me something I hear all the time: they liked where they were starting with their primary bedroom, but it didn’t feel like a space they truly wanted to spend time in. It felt flat and unfinished, and while they wanted it to feel cozier, fresher, and more coastal, they were very clear about their boundaries. No paint. No wallpaper. No DIY projects. They also wanted to keep their existing furniture and bedspread — which meant the solution had to come from thoughtful design, not big changes.

The biggest challenge was creating a room that felt layered and intentional while working entirely within those limits. On top of that, the space needed to function in a way most bedrooms quietly do BUT the husband needed a small, practical workspace for laptop meetings and storage for client gifts. But obviously neither of them wanted the room to feel like an office had moved in. The goal was a space that blended coastal, modern, traditional, and had minimal influences without feeling cold.

Instead of changing the room, I focused on refining it. We elevated what was already there through purposeful details: an oversized mirror to add depth and light, a side table with hidden storage to quietly support everyday function, a gallery wall that was thoughtfully designed to feel beautiful in person while also creating a clean, styled backdrop for online meetings. Every addition had a reason, and nothing was there just to fill space.

The result is a primary bedroom that feels calm, intimate, and finished — without a single wall being painted or a project being torn apart. This is the kind of transformation I love most: when a room finally feels right not because it was rebuilt, but because it was thoughtfully styled to support the way people actually live in it.
